Ireland and the public sector and everything

THis will probably end up as a rant but I will attempt to keep it civilised. I work in the public sector in Ireland, I work in a hospital in Munster and perform tests on members of the public. The Government is going to cut my wages in December or make me work more hours or both. I work hard all day because it is my work ethic to work hard all day. I work with people who do not work in this same manner. We all have different motivations for working - I get that. Money is not a motivator for me - I do not pay tax as I don't earn enough, I support three children and a husband and copious amounts of animals. When I am not working I fix computers, debug code, anything I am asked. I do this for free. If I am not available my beautiful husband goes in my place. We both give up a lot of time in voluntary activities, we give away items - monetary and non-monetary if we see a need in the community or in individuals. We are poor and happy. We will never have that brand new car or a holiday villa in France but we do take holidays and we enjoy things that are free. For example:
1. Walking in the rain in a shirt and letting the rain fall on my upcast face
2. shuffling through autumn leaves - a timeless ageless pleasure best enjoyed in a group.
3. Seeing a smile on our son's face when he has surmounted yet another obstacle
4. Running up a hill and then strolling down
5. Meeting each other on a date, holding hands etc!!!
6. playing soccer with the kids, having a bunch of kids over and playing a mass brawl of football - priceless
7. Watching a fox traverse the lane without getting shot at by the neighbours.

And it is a good job we like free things because that is all we will have after the budget. Here are a few of my proposals to Government.
1. All Government TD's and ministers that have a free transport pass should be made use it instead of claiming 1 euro for every mile. The discounts these people get with airlines should be openly and transparently seen - if a minister travels on the Kerry Dublin route by air the ticket stub should have to be produced. Mileage should be paid at the same rate home helps are paid.
2. No more eating out expenses. I do not work in the same town as my house and yet I manage with a packed lunch- so should they. business meetings do not have to have food. A chair each and maybe a table.
3. I work in a different town and have extra living expenses because of that so why should govt people get a tax relief.
4. Every person in the country should be taught how to make a stew, a soup, scones and a dessert from scratch - it might encourage people to cook - less waste, healthier people and govt people should lead by example.
5. People should take in lodgers and car pool - make a little money, save a little money better for the environment
6. Marketing should be banned. If our inherent needs weren't manipulated so much we would be happy with our lot.
7. TV should be banned from 4-8 to allow families sit together, cook together, eat together and do family things without the distraction of TV.

See I knew it would become a rant.

Honesty, Integrity, Hard Work, Play Hard and enough sleep will decrease the strain on the health service, and make for happier people. Happy people are productive people.
