Who do you write like?

 

I write like :

Daniel Defoe

Edgar Allan Poe

James Joyce

Charles Dickens

Stephen King

Gertrude Stein

Dan Brown

JD Salinger

and then Chuck Palahnuik and Margaret Mitchell depending on what I am writing, 

Daniel Defoe and James Joyce kept coming up and amazingly only two women, one of which I am horrified I write like.

That is the tension for me, keeping it real whilst offering hope in the stories. It is so new to me it is hard to convey without being twee.
